Spasibo means thank you
May 8th 2005

"On instruction of the Commander-in-Chief of the Red Army and Soviet naval forces from 8 May 1945 I announce that the supreme command of the Wehrmacht in Berlin signed unconditional surrender of the German Armed Forces. The Great Patriotic War, which the Soviet people waged against fascist Germany, has been brought to an end victoriously. Germany is completely defeated."
Radio Moscow on May 8th, 1945

Liberation Day 1945 - 2005

"This is one of the most beautiful days in my life"

Just like for the time witness and Auschwitz survivor Esther Bejarano May 8th is for all those humans, who became victim of the destruction and conquest illusion of the Germans, a day of joy and liberation. The Nazis were defeated and the Holocaust had an end.

With the unconditional surrender of the German Wehrmacht on 8 May 1945 the civilization rapture was brought to an end and meant the liberation of several millions prisoners of the concentration camps, hard labourers, political opponents and prisoners of war. They survived the incomparable terror of the camps, the death marches, the exploitation in war economics, the euthanasia programs and the racist human attempts, while millions of people became victim of the collective destruction and conquest illusion of the Germans - alone 27 million humans from the Soviet Union, among them 14 million civilians. Six million Jews and half a million Sinti and Roma were murdered in the concentration and extermination camps of the Nazis; hundred thousands died in captivity or in hard labour for German companies like IG Farben, Flick or Deutsche Bank. Those who didn't meet the eugenic expectations and the civil sexual or work moral were murdered; just as communists, social democrats and all others who offered resistance against fascism.

Against historical revisionism and anti-Semitism

In Germany May 8th is in the meantime - both in the social discourse and from national side - no more felt as breakdown but as liberation. With the mentality change of the post-war generation also a memory-political paradigm change takes place in Germany, in which reminding of Auschwitz is clarified as a location advantage and not only exempts Germany from its historical guilt, but even makes itself to a liberator in the New World Order. Therefore the German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder called the successful landing of the Allies in Normandy at the past D-Day a "victory not over, but for Germany" and the German Foreign Minister Joseph Fischer legitimized the war of aggression contrary to international law against the Republic of Yugoslavia "not despite, but because of Auschwitz". And all while in the public debate the Germans are constituted as victims of bombardment, escape and expulsion.

It's obviously necessary to remind the fact that the Second World War began with the German assault on Poland; that Hitler's "crusade against the bolshevism" and the project to eliminate the entire European Jewry as well as the aggressive German conquest campaign were pressed ahead with approval by the majority of the Germans - also under recommendation of the total war. It were German troops who had raged from Finland to Africa, from the Atlantic Ocean to Moscow and the Caspian Sea and who had transformed Europe into a rubble field. It's appropriate to remind of the fact that Germany bears the debt of war and genocide - and who profited from it. Again and again it's to be reminded that till today numerous victims of the Nazi terror, especially in Eastern Europe, are left out by each form of remuneration. Therefore we demand the immediate remuneration of all hard labourers!

Spasibo means thank you

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of liberation we commemorate all those, who were persecuted and murdered during the period of National Socialism: Jews, Sinti and Roma, homosexuals, handicapped persons, prisoners of war and forced labourers, collaborators and political oppositional. We commemorate the freedom fighters, who were taken prisoner or lost their life putting an end to German war.

We thank partisans and resistance fighters and all who took part in the war of liberation. Our thanks goes besides to the partisan federations under Tito or the French Maquisards, which followed the numerous partisan federations of the Résistance, likewise the fewer well-known partisan groups like the "Jewish Brigade" and the innumerable nameless survivors and the dead. We thank the Allies and not least the soldiers of the Red Army, who achieved the crucial contribution for the German defeat.

Representative of all Allies and fighters against Germany, we want to thank the Red Army on May 8th at the Soviet war memorial in Berlin-Treptow for the liberation of the civilization before the threatening downfall into barbarism could take place. We reward the Red Army for holding the front line in Eastern Europe and for the glorious battles in Moscow, Stalingrad and Kursk, where the German conquerors were struck and consequently marked the beginning of the end of National Socialism

Against Germany - for a cosmopolitan communism!

Spasibo means thank you - No Nazi marching up on May 8th!

"They will do it again" (Henry Morgenthau)

Sixty years after the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht, thousands of German Nazis want to march up in Berlin once more. The fascist party Junge Nationaldemokraten announced a demonstration with the slogan "60 years of liberation lie - stop the guilt cult" for May 8th in the centre of Berlin.

The Germans are very concerned that a negative world press could cause an international reputation loss to Germany. Thus the legislative assembly has been restricted and preparations for an act of state in the German Bundestag were taken.

We reject the produced fight for national symbols and against fascist symptoms, because the capitalistic causes of fascism remain faded out. Besides Germany represents itself as a confident nation, which has learned from its own history and thus legitimizes war actions and its own power politics. But racist attacks and murders take place in Germany every day, Jewish memorial places are devastated and this expresses what still prevails in post-fascist Germany: For two thirds of the Germans Israel commands a war of extermination against the Palestinians, approximately one third of the Germans believe that the Israelis are dealing nothing else with the Palestinians but what the Nazis in the Second World War made with the Jews. In Berlin and Cologne parties try to put the victims of fascism on an equal footing with the victims of bombardments of German cities as well as to set the crimes of the National Socialism off against those of the Stalinism. The fascist NPD talks in the Saxon federal state parliament about the "Bombenholocaust", while Nazis and citizens remember the German bomb victims in Dresden together.

We call upon all antifascists for not lending their name for the government production and demonstrate with us on May 8th against Germany. In memory of the victims of German aggression, against militarization and German victim myths. We don't need a better Germany, we don't want Germany at all!
